Plum-remarkable
2009 Plum jelly first year. No tea Jelly. I got it right this time.

Maple Flavored Bacon .83 Cents A Pound
We took off north of Alma Arkansas today to our favorite A-Z store and grabbed up a 30 pound box of Sliced Maple Flavored Bacon for .83 cents a pound.
What a bargain. We had to buy 30 pounds and repackage it ourselves but trust me We didn’t mind. That’s what I do.

And on top of that it taste as great as he price.
So try and find those stores that buy this food in bulk and may be slightly damaged can goods and save a BUNDLE.
Tomatoes 3.00 A Pound = 10.00 Quart Jar
Wow I didn’t think I would ever see the day when plain ole red tomatoes would sell for 2.99. a pound at the Big W. What ever are we going to do when they are out of season. Another reason to grab up all you can at .99 cents a pound and get them canned.
That’s going to make a simple quart jar of tomatoes worth about 10.00 this winter at least. So I ran out and bought 50.00 and will put them in the food bank to draw interest and they will be worth 170.00 in just a few week.
Wow if only the banks could offer you that kind of rate. Wonder if they have safe deposit boxes for food at banks.

I’ll keep adding to my bank. I’m up to 35 quarts so far. I only bought the bushel to get me ahead. I say my little food bank is getting pretty full. Wow what fun!!! To see it grow just like a savings account.
I Garland and I took a little afternoon drive out in the country towards Okla. and met the nicest country folks we have meet in a long time. Just good old country folks. Love their place and loved their gardens. Thanks Beverly and Larry for the great offer on tomatoes.
Can peach Pie Filling 5.00 A Can
I can’t believe that a can of peach pie filling is 5.00 a can. Wow. There go the cobblers. So I have figured that I have 1.85 a quart in mine.

So to to auctions and grab up the jars & lids at cents on the dollars at what you would buy them at the Big discount stores and get a 1/2 bushel of peaches and go to work. Be proud of what you save.
Grapes Are In…..Made Some jelly…Maybe?
Grapes look like they are getting ready to all come off and so maybe we will get some jelly gong. I sure hope some. I would love to make grape jelly. Guess I will just have to teach myself how. See more below.

Some one please comment me a simple recipe.
Major Update On Grapes and Jelly:
Lord help the souls of those to have to deal with what is left of this old woman and being a stroke victim at that.
Ok. gathered up all my grapes. They were so pretty. I did just what I was suppose to. De stemmed them, washed them, crushed them and cooked them down. Let then set in a cool place over night in the fridge. Oh the juice was so pretty.
Now I am not getting off track when I mention that this family drinks a lot of tea. So we make it twice a day. Brewed. Well just last night my daughter decided to start her second pot. We didn’t get around to making it so I sure wasn’t going to throw it out. I poured it in a little pitcher and sat it in the fridge. They must learn to not be wasteful these days. Yeah I know I ramble, but there’s a point.
Oh back to the grapes & jelly.
Ok time to start. First thing grab up the jars get them washed and set a side to get heated up for the hot jelly. Ok get the juice and strain one last time. I did that. Pretty simple. Ok, I placed juice and 3 cups sugar in large pot and brought to boil and cook until it suppose to get to a jell state. I cooked and cooked and cooked…..maybe an hour maybe more. Then gave up and just threw a package of Sure-jell in , that will make is jell. Nope. Dang what will make this stuff Jell.
Oh well maybe when it cools off. Oh well time to clean up while the jars set and cool. Wow. its hot I need a glass of tea. I’ll make some.
What is that in the fridge?? That’s my grape juice! Ok then what is that I just made? Yes, I am the first and only person you know that made Tea jelly.

Real tea jelly, looks like tea jelly, taste like tea jelly. Its tea jelly.
A stroke victim like me needs to just stay out of the kitchen. Now we know where all those strange foods some from.

Luckily I didn’t hurt myself laughing at myself.
Oh the grape jelly. I am still waiting for it to jell.
Real grape jelly and apricot jams.

Corn on the cob at the dinner table…….maybe not!
I believe with all my heart that the upcoming year that the prices of corn are going to skyrocket. I predict that you will pay as much a 2.50 per ear of corn.
Seeing pictures abundance like this this fall and winter will be long forgotten.

This little 10.00 worths will be a closer to 75.00 come this fall and Winter. I suggest going to your local market and grabbing up a few dozen ears and getting them in your freezer for this year.
I do not care what any one says we are in and getting deeper into a depression.
I really do not even think you will see much served in restaurants this winter. Scary thought uh?
Razorback Football Salsa
I didn’t have enough of any one veggie to fill a canner up with so I decided to just put all the small quantities together and make a canner full of pint jars of salsa. These will be perfect for when we watch the Arkansas Razorbacks play football this fall and winter.

Consist of yellow & red tomatoes and garlic, peppers of all kinds, cilantro and onions.
